OUR MISSION:
To take action to bring women into the mainstream of American
society now, excercising all privileges and responsibilites thereof
in truly equal partnership with men.
WHAT WE DO:
- Network and build relationships to effect change
- Lobby federal, state, and local lawmakers to change existing
laws, write new legislation, and protect current civil rights
laws.
- Promote public awareness and involvement
- Inform and motivate our members
- Identify issues of concern
- Implement our FOCUS agenda to move
toward equality for women

NOW's members make a difference. * We organize record-breaking
crowds for protests on issues such as reproductive rights and
violence against women. * We help elect record numbers of feminst
women to Congress and to state legislatures from Portland, Oregon
to Portland, Maine. * We're using our U.S. Supreme Court victory
to sue anti-abortion terrorists who conspire to murder doctors
and bomb clinics. * We champion important new laws - like those
requiring employers to provide family and medical leave and ensuring
stronger enforcement of child support awards. * We advocate for
survivors of rape, sexual harrassment and sex discrimination.
* We organize to fight right-wing attacks on women's civil rights
and liberties. * We promote affirmative action, employment protection,
reporductive choice, pay equity, and freedom from the fear of
violence.
